Whether a building carries earthquake risk is determined by technical examination conducted by authorized institutions. Risky-structure determination is the beginning of the transformation process. Determination may be made at the owner\'s request or within the scope of relevant legislation. The result directly affects the building\'s future.
How Is the Reinforcement Decision Made?
Building reinforcement or renewal is a major decision concerning the common structure and is discussed at the board of unit owners. Such comprehensive decisions are subject to specific majorities according to their nature. How Is the Cost Shared?
Because reinforcement or transformation costs concern the common structure, they, as a rule, cover all owners. The sharing method (land-share ratio or another basis) is determined by legislation and the board decision. Relationship with Insurance

- Postponing the decision: When earthquake safety is postponed, the risk grows.
- Placing the cost on one person: Common-structure expense covers all owners.
- Thinking DASK is reinforcement: Insurance does not replace structural reinforcement.
